Maryann
Hukill began dance at the age of five
with Kaye Gorham and joined the Kaye
Gorham Touring Company at the age of
thirteen. under Kaye Gorham's
supervision, she began jazz lessons with Broadway's
Johnny Madison and singing
and dramatics with other Broadway teachers.
While
in high school, Maryann performed locally at
the Casa Sevile for six months
and did various club date shows. In the summer,
Maryann did State Fairs with Hank Snow,
Bobby Rydell, Lawrence Welk, Bobby Vinton, Carmel
Quinn and other variety acts. She also
appeared numerous times at Carnegie
Hall.
During
her college years, Maryann appeared at the San
Su San with Julius LaRosa, Dick Gregory,
Pat Cooper, Buddy Greco and
Red Buttons.
Some
of the New York Hotels Maryann performed at
included the Waldorf Astoria, The Plaza,
The Sheraton, The Americana and The
Commadore. Other performances included
the Friar's Roasting of Rudy Valle
and Johnny Carson.
Most
of the Trade and Industrial Shows were performed
at the New York Coliseum and Atlantic City Convention
Center.
Maryann
performed with Hines, Hines and Dad
in A.G.V.A. Shows. In Puerto
Rico, she appeared at the El San Juan with Sophie
Tucker, Mimi Hines and Phil Ford, Red Buttons,
Sammy Davis, Jr. and Louis Armstrong.
She
also participated in a U.S.O. Tour of Various
Army, Marine and Air Force Bases, as well as
Naval bases, including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Maryann
credits most of her early dance education to
Kaye Gorham and, today, continues
to attend dance classes with Master Teachers.
One of Maryann's goals in life still revolves
around the world of dance and, most importantly,
her students. Because of her wonderful memories
and dance achievements, Maryann strives to share
her expertise and experiences with all her students.
